  • Pedal Power give our cycling to school a push start!

    Fri 11 Jun 2021 C Morris

The Wow Active Travel Project continues at school and lots of people are ditching the car in favour of cycling, scooting and walking to and from Ninian Park Primary each day.

To help us with this, the wonderful people at Pedal Power, have kindly donated 15 bikes to the school. We are going to give these lovely second-hand bikes away for our pupils to own; so that they can come to school in a more active way.

    We have -

    - one bike age 6-8 years old

    - three bikes age 5-6 years old

    - ten bikes age 4-5 years old

    - one bikes age 3-4 years old

If you would like to be considered for one of these, please write a short note to Mrs Morris stating your name and class and telling her why you would like one of these bicycles. All notes to be given to class teachers by Wednesday 16th June and lucky recipients will receive a phone call by Friday 18th June.

    Good luck and happy cycling.

  • Big Pedal - 26th to 30th April

    Fri 23 Apr 2021 C Morris

As you will be aware we are taking part in the Active Travel scheme. Next week we are challenging the pupils, parents, friends and staff to join the nation's Big Pedal event. You can find out more about this 5 day event at https://bigpedal.org.uk/

All schools will be entered into daily prize draws for rewards if over 15% of the school cycle, walk, wheel or scoot on each day of the challenge. Prizes up for grabs include accessories and equipment to help the school travel actively. Active journeys from home with a family member and physical challenges completed at home will also count towards the 15% when pupils are learning remotely.

If you want your child to take part there is an optional record sheet you can use attached to this announcement. Otherwise your child can let your child's teacher know each morning, when they complete their Active Travel Survey in class. The school will add up all our Big Pedal participants each day and add them onto the portal, where you can see how our school is doing compared to everyone else around the UK at www.bigpedal.org.uk

Please do not worry if you are unable to take part in this activity. It is purely optional and offered as a healthy, fun activity.  We do not want this to add any stress to family life.

There is an announcement on your child's Seesaw account about this too.

Have a lovely weekend and see you on Monday.
