Year 2

Croeseo i Flwyddyn Dau / Welcome to Year Two

Cornerstones

Our new topic for the first half-term is "Wriggle and Crawl".  We have been researching insects and other minibeasts - which the older pupils of Fitzalan call invertebrates.  If you ask the children of Year Two they might already be able to tell you how many legs insects have.

On the Friday of the first week of term, April the 20th, we had a visitor from Zoolab. Amy brought with her lots of animals for us to see, from Bob the screaming cockroach to Cecil the australian bearded dragon. If you'd like to see pictures, please take a look at the school's twitter feed - search for us, we're @nppschool

Good To Be Green

Well done to all the children who enjoyed the good to be green treat last half term - we all enjoyed our House-based talent shows! We are still keeping the school rules In Year 2 and are looking forward to taking part in the next Good to be Green treat! What will it be for Summer One.

Bendigedig Blwyddyn Dau!

Reading

Please remember to bring in your school bag every day and practise reading and writing  speedway words at home. Most of the children have books at a new colour band so please practise at home. Most of the children are now getting really good at their sounds and reading books so please keep supporting them by enjoying reading at home.

Maths

Please continue to practise your learn it's and x 10 x5 & x2 tables, and your doubles up to 20.

If you've already learned these tables, then how about your 3x and 4x tables?

Our half- termly targets for maths are linked to telling the time....digital and analogue so please help your child tell the times: O'clock,1/2 past, 1/4 past and 1/4 to ( and the digital times too).

PE

Please remember that PE for Year Two is still on a TUESDAY every week! If your child can bring in a PE bag to leave in their lockers for all half term's PE lessons, then it's much easier for them because they won't be able to forget their kit! We check for PE kits each Tuesday morning and will telephone you at home if your child needs kit to be brought in.

Homework

Your child will be bringing home speedway words, book bag, sounds from Read Write Inc  and every few weeks BIG MATHS sheets. There is a sheet of the homework tasks for the current topic of "Wriggle and Crawl".
