Welcome to Year 2
Festival of Christmas Workshop Visit
This Thursday, 30th November, Year Two will be visiting the Ebenezer Church in Grangetown for a workshop on the festival of Christmas - this fits in with our current R.E. topic on Festivals. Year Two children will be walking to the church, so please make sure that your child wears sensible walking shoes and has a raincoat on Thursday. Lunch arrangements will remain the same as usual. Some children will be going in the morning and the others in the afternoon.
As part of our new topic "Beat, Band Boogie", the three classes have been busy making Indonesian music in a "Gamelan" workshop at St David's Hall. The "Beat, Band, Boogie" topic gives the pupils the chance to find out how musical instruments make their sounds and learning about music - pitch, rhythm and all manner of other technical things. Next week, they'll be using recycled materials to model some of the instruments they've been examining in class - we'd appreciate any egg cartons you could send in with them, please!
Good To Be Green
Well done to all the children who enjoyed the good to be green treat last half term - we saw the film Zootropolis which was enjoyed by everyone! We are already keeping the school rules In Year 2 and are looking forward to taking part in the next Good to be Green treat!
Bendigedig Blwyddyn Dau!
Please remember to bring in your school bag every day and practice reading and writing speedway words at home. Most of the children have books at a new colour band so please practise at home.
Please practice your learn it's and x 10 x5 & x2 tables, and your doubles up to 20. Our half- termly targets for maths are linked to telling the time....digital and analogue so please help your child tell the times: O'clock,1/2 past, 1/4 past and 1/4 to ( and the digital times too).
Please remember that PE for Year Two is still on a TUESDAY every week! If your child can bring in a PE bag to leave on their coatpeg for all half term's PE lessons, then it's much easier for them because they won't be able to forget their kit! We check for PE kits each Tuesday morning and will telephone you at home if your child needs kit to be brought in.
Your child will be bringing home speedway words, book bag, sounds from Read Write Inc and every few weeks BIG MATHS sheets.
