In July 2023 we were delighted to find out we had been awarded School of Sanctuary status!

Over the course of the year, the children worked on many aspects of welcome and inclusion throughout their learning activities and project weeks. That June we held our annual Refugee Week celebrations and enjoyed seeing the children come to school in clothes that represented and celebrated their culture, countries and identities. We were also lucky enough to have a fantastic response from our families to the appeal for Foodbank donations, as well as raising money for the local charity Oasis! Since then, we have continued to build on this work, sharing our knowledge and experience with other schools. We have continued to invite speakers in to talk to the pupils, and answer their questions, about their first-hand experiences of being an asylum seeker or refugee.
